As Tim's friends, we knew Paul as Tim's dad, but he was also like another friend. He always made us feel so much part of the family (as does Jan), always welcoming, and great fun with his dry sense of humour. Particularly funny was when he would pull Tim's leg, and remind us of some embarrasing anecdote from Tim's youth, which would make us all laugh. He was always smiling. And always generous hearted, for example the time we met up in the pouring rain on our way back from Whitby for a lovely Sunday pub lunch, as his treat. So kind. His legacy lives on in his sons and in Tim and Nick he has helped to shape two fine young men and he was so proud of both of them. It was an honour and a privilege to know Paul, even just a little.
